I remember being a very young man when I first encountered the now cult scene from the hit series Roots, in which the unfortunate Kunta Kinte is whipped into accepting his new name “Toby” by the merciless slave owner John Waller.
He is very publicly broken, humiliated and submitted in the most appalling, yet perfectly legal manner (at that time in history).
The public nature of his torment sets and example and acts as a warning to others who would contradict the powers that be; “dissent at your peril”.

In today’s world, liberal ideology holds the whip, ready to excoriate the unyielding among the masses. They seek to intellectually enslave or at the very least, intimidate dissenters into public acceptance of the ideological narrative they wish to impose.
The process is brutal, often public and uses the legal (and sometimes illegal) means at its disposal (including huge fines, closing businesses, removing children from custody and imposing prison sentences) to intimidate those who would challenge their narrative.
I have no issue with open debate of ideas. Where I do take issue is when people who purport to support anti-slavery and anti-racist points of view, use the same methods of social and intellectual thuggery to enslave or intimidate others into renouncing the culture they were brought up with and that created the fairest and clearly the most desirable society to live in the world has ever seen (We don’t see masses of westerners trying to get to the Middle East, South America, China or Africa for a better life, so Judeo-Christian values must have gotten something right in building a desirable society).
Imposing views through intimidation, violence, social ostracization rather than debate and hard facts, impoverishes debate and society as a whole and is called fascism. It is what slave owners did in the past to control their victims, it’s what Joseph Goebbels used as a tactic to impose Nazism in Germany in the 1930s.
John Waller would be proud of liberal ideologues who shut down debate, they use his exact same methods.
